Family is everything at La Mangia

AT the heart of everything in La Mangia is family.

The beautiful hampers are created with nuts, oils, jams and relishes from the family farm.

The cafe’s eye-catching decor, vibrant fuschia pinks and jet black chandeliers, reflects the design preferences of Roslyn ‘Ros’ Mangiameli.

And her sons, Jason and Adam, are now following in her footsteps by creating delicious muffins, wraps, salads, cakes, and sandwiches for customers every morning.

“All the boys were taught by Ros, she taught them all they know,” father Ben said proudly.

“Jason and Adam have learnt from the best.

“The boys deserve some credit, around the cafe they do a fair bit.”

With the exception of a few slices, all of the cakes and sandwiches are made on premises, with La Mangia being located in the middle of Campbell Street.

“It’s a premier place to be in Swan Hill – the coffee window is its own form of advertising,” Ben said.

“And when people come inside, we have our hampers right near the door, and they are perfect for Christmas, whether you’re a local or a tourist.

“All of the local produce comes from our farm out at Woorinen, where we’ve been doing this for 19 years.”

La Mangia was one of the first cafes in Swan Hill to champion local produce, and have their own gourmet range of olive oil, sauces, relish, dressing, jams, pistachios and almonds.

Located at 179 Campbell St, the licensed venue is open every day except Sunday for breakfast and lunch.
