Renney achieves 50 years with the Australian Red Cross

RED Cross volunteer Elizabeth Renney was presented with a Long Service Badge celebrating her 50 years with the organisation on Thursday November 25.

Ms Renney was a member at Berriwillock for 45 of those years, and held office as Regional Chairman.

She is now holds office in Swan Hill.

Ms Renney’s achievement was part of the Red Cross Zone meeting held at Lake Boga, where members from the Lake Boga, Swan Hill, Hopetoun, Charlton and Mildura units attended.

Carolyn Ratnick from the Melbourne Red Cross headquarters presented Ms Renney with her badge.

Ms Ratnick also gave a report on the year’s activities, and the Red Cross COVIDSafe plan.

The Australian Red Cross are an organisation committed to humanitarian efforts such as blood donation, alleviating the effects of homelessness, and fighting for the rights of refugees.

It is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, founded in 1919, with approximately 97 million volunteers worldwide.

Their mission statements include a dedication to protecting human life, and doing all they can do to minimise human suffering.
