Carols to be night of joy

RIVERSIDE Park will come to life this Sunday with the annual Carols by Candlelight extravaganza, kicking off at 6.30pm.

This family friendly celebration is set to bring the community together for a night of festive fun, with an appearance from the big man himself.

Santa Claus will be in attendance all night ready to bring some festive cheer, grabbing some photos with the kids and listening as you tell him what you want for Christmas.

Craig Harvey, one of the event organisers, said the evening promised fun for all.

“There’ll be something for everyone, it will be a very family friendly evening with fun for all ages,” he said.

“The evening will be a celebration of the birth of Jesus, a chance for us to celebrate the arrival of Christmas.”

The evening promises something for everyone, with food and drink galore and a sausage sizzle.

Kids and families will also be delighted by the face-painting and balloon animals adding to the excitement of the evening.

Before the main event, a local ukulele group will perform live, looking to add a fun and lively vibe to the night.

The main attraction, however, will be the choir of 15 who will take to the stage and sing a variety of carols, from some Christmas classics to some new hits – there will be a song for everyone.

This year a group of school children will come alongside the choir and show off their skills as they share some of their favourite Christmas carols.

“As a bit of a holiday surprise we have invited some local state school to come and get involved,” Mr Harvey said.

“It will make for a fun performance where we encourage everyone to sing along and feel the Christmas spirit.”

Following an evening full of carols, a firework show will light up the sky just after dusk as a fun and exciting end to the evening as it welcomes in the Christmas season.

Whether you’re attending with family, friends, or on your own, Carols by Candlelight offers a warm and festive atmosphere that’s perfect for all ages.

Riverside Park will be the place to be this Sunday.
