Standley found safe after stranded for days

A MAN missing on the NSW and SA border since November 9 was found safe on Sunday according to his daughter.

John Standley was found, five days after he was last seen, in his car which was bogged on a property between Wentworth and Broken Hill.

“Serious concerns” were held for the 75-year-old who lives with dementia after he vanished in the remote outback after leaving Broken Hill and heading towards Wentworth.

His daughter Amanda Simmons called his rescue “a miracle” and explained that her father had been stranded for five days without food.

In a Facebook post she thanked emergency services and the couple that found Mr Standley for their assistance.

“We are so grateful and thankful to everyone who was involved in helping us find him,” Ms Simmons said.

“Thank you to everyone who helped search for him, and especially to Andy and Fiona McLeod from Coomba Station who found him.

“Thank you NSW Police Force, Barrier District Police, Broken Hill Police, SA Police, Crime Stoppers, Emergency Services and everyone who shared the posts about him being missing.”
