Racecourse with that winning feeling

RACECOURSE returned to the winner’s list in the MVPA Weekend Pennant on Saturday, with a 78 shot to 60 win over Moulamein.

Following last weekend’s disappointing loss to Nyah District, Racecourse righted their ship, winning two of the three rinks in the unseasonal wintery conditions.

Norm Smith’s quartet were the stars on the day for the home side, winning their rink 33 shots to 14 over Kerryn Evans’ team.

Out at Lake Boga, it was the home side who got the job done, handing last year’s premiers Swan Hill their second consecutive loss to start the title defence.

In the closest match of the round, Lake Boga eventually got over the line by just eight shots, 78 to 70.

The team of Raymond Wilson, Rod Wickham, Noel Hender and Judith Wilson proved to be the difference, winning their rink by 18 shots, to help set up the victory.

The final match of round two turned out to be a one-sided affair, as the highly-fancied Murray Downs ran away with a comfortable 92 shot to 49 win over Nyah District, with Buck Lehmann’s team recording an extraordinary 42 shot to 8 win on their rink.
