PLANTING the Seed is a series of free online webinars from Sustainable Gardening Australia aimed at helping the community to grow their own food through sharing tips, tricks and practical gardening skills.
Coinciding with this event will be the launch of the seed library at Swan Hill Regional Library – a place where you can borrow or drop in seeds, to get your garden or someone else’s started.
These initiatives are courtesy of Food for All – Swan Hill Region are a group of individuals and organisations who are passionate about making sure everyone in our community has access to delicious, healthy, seasonal and local food.
The seed library aims to:
– Support information and knowledge sharing;
– Create a community-driven and sustainable seed collection;
– Create new ways to strengthen community interaction and engagement with the library;
– Create and build on community partnerships;
– Encourage residents to enjoy their gardens and growing plants in abundance.
The seed library is for all gardeners, from beginners to experts, and is a place where people can learn how to grow, harvest and save seeds.
