KANGAS ON THE HOP
THE Cohuna Kangas have staked their claim for early flag favoritism ahead of next season, unveiling three big recruits, as well as a number of re-signings in recent days.
Former ruckman Ben Archard and Eaglehawk duo Jarrod Findlay and Brenton Conforti have both signed on for next season, in a major boost to the Kangas chances of breaking their CMFNL senior premiership drought.
Archard, who last played for Cohuna in 2015, returns to the club as a two-time Senior’s Best & Fairest winner for the Melton Football Club.
He has also played Interleague for Ballarat, and spent time up north playing with the Darwin Buffaloes in the NTFL.
He will be a welcome addition to the club’s ruck stocks.
Findlay, on the other hand, will be spending his first season in purple and comes to the club as a two-time premiership player for North Bendigo, on top of having won the 2017 Cheatley Medal in the Heathcote and District Football Netball League.
A classy midfielder who is more than capable of hitting the scoreboard, Findlay will add even further depth to an already ominous midfield that will contain Tom Toma, Joel Helman and Tyson Findlay, after all three re-signed for next season.
Conforti will also be pulling on the Kangas jumper for the first time, and comes to the club having played in Eaglehawk’s 2018 Senior’s Premiership.
He has also represented the Bendigo Football League at Interleague level as a key defender.
Tyler Jones, Daniel Coates, Jack Donat, Mason Fehring and Dan Paterson have also put pen to paper ahead of what shapes as a very big 2022 season for the Kangas.
BOMBERS CLEAR FOR TAKE-OFF
THE Kangas aren’t the only club to have been busy adding to their list ahead of next season, with Wandella recently announcing the signing of 22-year-old Tooleybuc-Manangatang big man Leighton Wilkins.
Wilkins comes to the Bombers having broken into the Saints senior line-up this season.
Having played all ten games in the seniors, Wandella will no doubt be hoping Wilkins continues his development and adds further depth to their ruck department.
Wilkins joins a host of Bombers who have all recommitted for next season, including veteran Tim Robinson, half back Alex Kirby, midfielders Darren Rushton and Jack Pay and injury-plagued duo Sam Sperling and Dillan Treacy.SAINTS CONTINUE MARCHINGQUAMBATOOK have wasted no time in locking away the bulk of their 2021 senior playing list, announcing a number of key re-signings recently.
Midfielder Tobie Cameron, who finished fifth in this seasons EG Hunt Medal, was the key signature the Saints would have been wanting, with the hard running onballer recommitting for another season in the red, white and black.
Joining Cameron in putting pen to paper are Michael Bradbury, William Collicoat, Dylan Pascoe, Nick Mason, Cooper Williams, Jonty Taylor and Tristan Ramadge.
