Letters to the Editor October 1

Remember road rules when school returns

School is back next week (October 4) and at schools there are not supposed to be any u-turns, but many drivers still do that, and some even make a double u-turn.

We as supervisers are at the crossing to see the children safely across.

Term Four will see the introduction of a camera, so if you do the weong thing you could get a fine, so please be careful at the school drop-off.

As we are going into the warmer weather, many cars are driving with only one headlight on, and many are not dipping their headlights to oncoming cars, which is dangerous to both drivers.

So please be aware of what you are doing when driving at night.

A transport truck was following a car on the highway last week, and was ‘right up the boot’ with headlights on.

That is not acceptable, so please drive carefully.

Don’t let your next distraction be your last.

Stay alert, stay alive.

BERYL LOWE, Chair of Road Safe Central Murray.A poem for DeniliquinHave you ever been to Deniliquin?

Along the banks of the Edwards River,

Many miles from the sea, and fast flowing,

At times just like looking in a mirror.

The beach moves from year to year,

And flood waters help it on its way,

A good time for a barbecue,

At any time of the day.Have you ever been to Deniliquin?

A town close to Finley, where the trains used to run,

All the way to Sydney,

Now is the time you should drive,

Along the roads in New South Wales,

Such a magical place in the bush,

Where new ideas come alive.Would you like to go and visit Deniliquin?

Close to the state of Victoria,

Remember not to take fruit fly over the border,

Beacuase of the fruit fly order.

Enjoy your stay in the bush,

Do you not need a reason?

Stay and enjoy the beauty of the towns,

The kookaburras will make you welcome.
