Vaccination hubs in Murray River Council LGA

Vaccination hubs in Murray River LGA MURRAY River Council are in talks with Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) about the possibility of setting up vaccination hubs in open space in the municipality.

Potential locations for private visiting vaccination services are Tooleybuc, Moulamein, Murray Downs, Wakool and Moama.

Recent data from MLHD showed that the MRC local government area has the highest rates of single and double vaccinated people in the Riverina, with single vaccinated rates at 79 per cent and double vaccinated at almost 50 per cent.

It is unlikely that MLHD will run the vaccine hubs, but the health service has encouraged the council to work with private health providers – such as pharmacies – to set-up mobile sites for vaccinations.

Murray River Council chief executive officer Terry Dodds said additional sites would increase the capacity for residents to get vaccinated, and confirmed council would be working with private providers to help get it happening.

“We have the space allocated and we even have traffic control plans ready,” Mr Dodds said.

“We want to support our private providers to expand their vaccination programs so that we can continue on the path of getting the majority of our population vaccinated.”

Mr Dodds said the vaccination data for the MRC was a huge effort by residents across the council area.

“We want to thank the entire community for joining the fight against COVID-19,” he said.

“Thank you for continuing to follow the stay-at-home orders, for getting tested and for getting vaccinated.

“It’s the achievement of the vaccination target numbers across the whole area that will ultimately free up the way we can move around and get back to everyday life, so it’s important that we make things as easy as possible for communities to get the jab in their arms.”
