Woorinen wins netball courts funding

THE Woorinen Football Netball Club has scored $300,000 from the Victorian Government towards its netball court redevelopment.

The project was among 73 projects to share $22 million in the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

Swan Hill Council will contribute $70,000 and the club $80,000 towards the $450,000 project at Woorinen Recreation Reserve.

The netball court redevelopment would see the construction of two new netball courts at the existing court location, to Netball Victoria competition standards, providing improved participation and safety outcomes for more than 100 women and girls.

“It will be great for the club and for the girls,” Woorinen’s netball co-ordinator Kellie Wilcox said.

Director of development and planning Heather Green said the project was expected to commence during the summer off season, to ensure the courts were ready to go for the 2022 season.
