Covid business support officer appointed

SWAN Hill Rural City Council has this week appointed Sarah Rogers to the frontline of the region’s drive to help navigate businesses through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ms Rogers has started work as council’s Covid Support Officer to help business owners tackle the ever-changing restrictions, rules and regulations.

Economic and Community Development Manager Adam Saddler said the constant changes surrounding CovidSafe practices was exhausting for business owners and community members, and often difficult to interpret.

“We are pleased to have a dedicated Covid Support Officer available full-time to assist businesses and community groups to ‘get it right’ and keep our community safe,” Mr Saddler said.

“The role is a great support to strengthen the CovidSafe practices already in place and reinforce the terrific work our community is doing.

“Ultimately, the position will act as a conduit between state government, council and those who operate under Covid restrictions.”

Community support will be provided through information on CovidSafe plans, tailoring information according language needs, and advice on where to obtain further information and how to make a business CovidSafe.

The Covid Support Officer will be visiting businesses in the near future to introduce herself and discuss any Covid related issues.

The role was made possible thanks to the Victorian Government, via the Business Concierge and Hospitality Support Program.
