Jye Cup celebration set for October

On the strength of the Kerang area’s close affiliation and link to local Jye McNeil, the 2020 Melbourne Cup winning jockey the Kerang Turf Club have been successful in their tender bid submission to host the Lexus Melbourne Cup 2021 Tour.

The club has collaborated with various community partners, including, and yet not limited to; The Gannawarra Shire and The Kerang & District Agricultural Society Inc to stage the event.

The tour entourage will be in Kerang on Thursday 14 October 2021, and it has been confirmed that Melbourne Cup winning jockey, Jye McNeil will be a pivotal part for the celebratory home region visit.

Jye’s parents, locals, Daryl and Michelle McNeil are absolutely over the moon about the tour announcement. ” We are really excited to hear that Kerang is going to play a part in this year’s “Melbourne Cup Tour 2021”.

“Jye can’t wait to come home and join in the Celebrations with everyone, ” The Mc Neil’s said. ” The Locals are still enjoying “Jye and Twilight Payment’s” stunning Victory in last year’s Melbourne Cup.

We are sure the Community will get behind this year’s tour and take the opportunity to Celebrate “Their” Iconic Victory, ” Winning the Melbourne Cup really has changed Jye’s life forever, people recognise him in the streets and ask him for autographs and photos.  He also has media requests to attend to. This is all part of being a Melbourne Cup winning Jockey, which Jye has learnt to Embrace,” They said.

The Melbourne Cup win last year is still hard for us to believe.

We find we still get emotionally proud of Jye and ask ourselves “Did this really happen”?

There has been significant media interest already in relation to the Kerang leg of the newly announced tour.

With the visit been seen by racing authorities as an ideal platform to celebrate Jye’s momentous win with his extended family, and the Gannawarra region community. (as this couldn’t occur officially in 2020 in light of COVID-19).

The Kerang Club have now started organising a community event plan and are looking to scope the local community for additional involvement in the special Cup celebration.
