Stage three restrictions
ON Wednesday evening this week, regional Victoria returned to stage three stay-at-home restrictions.
This means there are only four reasons you can leave home: to shop for food and essential items or services, care and caregiving, exercise, and work or study (if you can’t do it from home). Unfortunately, it also means businesses will return to stage three restrictions, including restaurants and cafes, which will only be able to offer delivery and takeaway.
As per previous stage three restrictions, council services have also been affected.
This includes the closure of the Swan Hill Regional Library, art gallery, Swan Hill Region Information Centre, Swan Hill Leisure Centre, Robinvale Leisure Centre, all community centres and the Pioneer Settlement. The Swan Hill Town Hall Performing Arts and Conference Centre will remain closed.
Council’s Splatt Street office and the Robinvale Resource Centre will continue to open during normal business hours. For a full list of council services affected by stage three restrictions, please visit www.swanhill.vic.gov.au and click the COVID-19 updates banner at the top of the page.
For overall information regarding stage three restrictions, please visit www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/victoriasrestriction-levels-covid-19.
Just a reminder that we are also now required to wear a face covering whenever we leave our home, unless you have a lawful reason not to do so.
More information regarding face coverings can be found on the Department of Health and Human Services website at www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/face-coverings-covid-19.
Locomotive and windmill survey
THE community is being asked to have a say on the relocation sites for the locomotive and windmill within the Pioneer Settlement.
This follows on from council’s July meeting where councillors resolved to proceed with the construction of the Our Place building at site option one inside the Pioneer Settlement.
The decision requires retention of the windmill and locomotive on the Pioneer Settlement grounds and that an investigation of the required repair works for the Pental Island Bridge is undertaken.
Council is looking for input from the community to determine the best location within the settlement for these iconic pieces of history.
Consultation for the location will be taking place online, given current social distancing requirements and the introduction of stage three restrictions.
Anyone who wants to have a say can have a say via the online survey.
However, if you or someone you know doesn’t have internet access, or doesn’t feel comfortable using the internet to view plans and designs, please give council a call and we will make sure you can be involved.
The online survey is available from www.swanhill.vic.gov.au/our-place.
Feedback can also be provided by contacting Our Place project managers Candis Fraser or Dione Heppell on 5036 2333 from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday or via webchat.
Consultation will be open until August 10 at 4pm. The community feedback will then be collated and shared with councillors.
A final decision is expected to be made at council’s August meeting.
Our community can also read more about Our Place and ask questions of the Our Place team online by visiting www.swanhill.vic.gov.au/our-place.
