New podiatry service

New podiatry service

I TOUCHED on this a couple of weeks ago.

I now have a bit more information.

This service is open to all ages to anyone experiencing, or at risk of, obesity, diabetes, chronic pain, osteoarthritis, frailty, respiratory disease or physical inactivity.

I think that covers all of us in the bowls team.

If you do require help, all you need is your GP to sign the Waratah referral form and you get six free visits.

It cannot get better than that.

Get in touch with our wonderful Bush Nurse Centre and talk to the girls on 5887 5012 for more information.

This is not just open to Moulamein residents but everyone in the district that needs to use it.

This will be a great service for our district and it needs to be supported.

Confest community grants

OUR mates from Down To Earth Co-operative that have their get together once a year just out the road from Moulamein on their Edward River property would like to start putting back into the district by offering up to $3000 grants to worthy projects in our south-west Riverina region.

I do not know the details of what qualifies for these grants, but for more information, go to confestgrants.weebly.com or communitygrants@dta.coop.

Applications close March 1.

Give it a go, you have nothing to lose.

Bowls notes

WE were going for second, third or fourth spot on Saturday against Tooleybuc.

If the cards fell our way, we could be in second spot.

We could not go out of the four no matter what happened.

Cool Hand Shield’s and his mob were shuffled around a bit to try and get them back on the winning list.

They went close only going down by three shots.

Chalkie’s mob let their opposition get the jump on them, but they pegged them back and got up.

The Happy Hookers continued on their winning way and got up.

It was an interesting day with Maureen and Hooker going at each other all day.

Hooker trying not to call Maureen an old whatever when she knocked Hookas bowl off the kitty.

And Maureen trying not to swear at Hooker when he knocked her bowl off.

I can assure you that there was plenty of everything tossed back and forward between these two all day.

All in fun, I can assure you, until Maureen illegally put a straw in Hookers beer at the end of the day. That’s another story.

Two rinks up, one down. Up by 12 overall.

Unfortunately, this was not enough to get to second spot and get the double chance this week.

It was not quite enough to hold third spot.

But fourth is as good as third. No double chance, but we are in the finals.

We have come a long way in the last two years and let’s hope we can keep going.

We play Murray Downs at Murray Downs this week in the elimination final.

If you are going past sometime between 1.30pm and 6pm, call in and cheer us on.

First time in the finals for at least four years, I think.

Go Moula.

AFL tipping competition

THIS will only cost you $20 to register at our Moulamein Bowling Club.

One-hundred per cent of the entry fee goes back in prize money.

Pick all nine winners gets you two free schooners.

At the end, there will be a barbecue for all tipsters and we have a wooden spoon up for grabs.

For more information, please ring our bowling club on 5887 5207 during opening hours.

River levels

THE Edward is just below 2.1 metres and around 2100 megalitres a day.

Our river should continue to drop slowly.

No fishing report this week.

Not much happening until the river levels.
