AN iconic asset to Swan Hill has made a desperate call for volunteers over the Christmas and New Year period.
It comes after the Visitor and Community Comfort Centre recently lost four volunteers.
Open Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, the McCallum Street facility provides toilets, showers, baby feeding and change room, kitchen facilities and a meeting room for hire.
“The comfort centre is a big asset to Swan Hill and district, run by volunteers,” the centre’s Beryl Lowe said.
“If you have half a day or more and would like to be part of our friendly team, come in and see us.”
Ms Lowe said visitors — local, interstate and overseas — were impressed with what the centre could offer and the cleanliness.
“Some have never seen anything like it in their travels, which, of course, we like to hear,” she said.
Duties include meet and greet, a small amount of cleaning and helping with three raffles per year.
“It has been going since 1965 and we would like to keep it open,” Ms Lowe added.
“It would be a shame for us to close down, with so many other businesses closing, we must try and keep this open.”
If you would like to volunteer, call Beryl Lowe on 0400 057 022.
