A TOTAL Fire Ban has been declared for the Mallee tomorrow, with temperatures in the high 30s.
It is the first TFB to be declared in the region for the 2018/19 fire season.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, Swan Hill is expected to reach a maximum 38 degrees.
A severe fire danger rating has also been announced by the Country Fire Authority (CFA).
No fires can be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air from 12.01am until 11.59pm.
Swan Hill Fire Brigade captain Dennis Turner urged farmers “if they didn’t need to be in the paddock, don’t be”.
Cpt Turner said farmers needed to check weather conditions.
“The chance of rain is slim, so knock off during the hottest part of the day then return after tea,” he said.
“No fires can be lit if campers are on the river.”
Cpt Turner also urged people if they saw smoke to call triple zero immediately.
