Unprovoked assault on child

POLICE are hunting a man who assaulted a child in Swan Hill.

The accused followed and chased a group of children on Village Way about 7pm on October 10.

When he caught up to the group, he physically assaulted the 12-year-old victim.

Police said the attack was unprovoked and the male was seen loitering in the area beforehand following people.

The accused was described as being 17 or 18 years of age, Caucasian with olive complexion, bowl cut, curly black hair, a deep voice and wearing a long shirt, with white and red logos, long black tracksuit pants and using an iPhone to record.


Teen bailed

A TEEN has been bailed after allegedly stealing and dumping a vehicle.

A red 2010 Commodore Sedan was taken from an address in Stradbroke Avenue, Swan Hill, between 5am and 6am on October 10.

The vehicle was located on the Donald-Swan Hill Road in trees with extensive damage.

Police were called to Lalbert to investigate a male causing trouble.

A 19-year-old was arrested and charged with numerous offences, including theft of a vehicle, driving in a manner dangerous and exceed PCA.

He was remanded in custody before bailed at Swan Hill Magistrates’ Court.


Car impounded

An alleged drunk driver is set to have to pay more than $1500 after his car was impounded.

Police intercepted a vehicle with three passengers in Karinie Street, Swan Hill, about 1am on October 11.

The unlicensed driver allegedly returned a positive result on a preliminary breath test and later returned an evidentiary breath test result of 0.163.

The driver will face Swan Hill Magistrates’ Court and will need to pay $1525 to retrieve his car.


Home invasions

A NUMBER of Swan Hill residents have fallen victim to home invasions.

Police said between October 9 and 12, there were several aggravated burglaries in the Swan Hill township.

Many of these burglaries involved the offenders gaining access to the home while the occupants were sleeping.

In most cases the offender also took the occupants’ vehicle.

Most vehicles were recovered in the Swan Hill area, and one located in NSW.

Police said the investigation was ongoing.


Bicycles missing

POLICE are investigating the alleged theft of two bicycles in separate incidents in Swan Hill.

Between October 9 and 12, a blue Trek bicycle went missing from the front yard of a home in Barnett Street, Swan Hill.

Meanwhile, a yellow and green mountain bike was taken from outside a supermarket in Beveridge Street, Swan Hill, about 8pm on October 11.
