Classic film comes to life

Tickets to the Swan Hill Theatre Group’s upcoming production of Spamalot are now on sale and people are urged to to book early.

The show will run for a 12 performance season, from Friday, June 16 until Saturday, July 1.

Swan Hill Theatre Group chairperson Trudy Rose said rehearsals for the show were coming along nicely.

“Everything has been blocked, meaning all the stage directions are locked in,” Ms Rose said.

“The band have been rehearsing two or three times a week to learn their 25 musical numbers.

“Our vocal coach has been giving people lessons to bring everyone up to scratch; it’s all starting to sound really good.

“Costumes and props are also coming together nicely.”

This week the group did their first full run through of the show.

Ms Rose said people should come along to a performance for a great night or afternoon out.

“Last year’s performance of Grease booked out really quickly, so we’ve been encouraging people to book their tickets early to avoid missing out,” she said.

Monty Python’s Spamalot is a musical comedy adapted from the classic 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Like the film, it’s a satirical parody of the legend of King Arthur. Ms Rose said the musical comedy would appeal to people of all ages.

“We’ve laughed so much throughout rehearsals,” she said
