There are fears Murray Downs residents aren’t connecting to its community after its peak voice group continues to struggle to fill positions.
The Murray Downs Advancement Group (MDAG) also failed to attract residents at its annual general meeting last Thursday, with about 12 people in attendance.
“Yes, it has been said that we should be more transparent and open the meetings up to the general public, but committees are formed to do the job that they have been elected to do,” chairman John Gouin said.
According to the 2011 census, the population of Murray Downs was 145.
“If people feel strongly enough about where they live, they should speak up to our sector representatives and have their views aired through the right channels.
“I hope we can continue the good work that our past members have started as we’re still working towards the bridge, footpaths, and beautification to our landscape, with an ongoing pride and commitment to where we live.”
A new playground will be built at Pirates Park this month, along with repairs or replacement of the shade sail.
