VICTORIA Police are still investigating how a 23-year-old Tongan man died in Nyah West at the weekend.
The unidentified man was struck by a car between 2am and 4.30am on Nyah West Road, near Matson Lane.
A by-passer made the discovery at about 4.30am on Sunday morning.
Victoria Police Major Collision Investigation Unit Detective Sergeant Mark Amos said four cars were seen driving in or out of Nyah West, along Nyah West Road, between 2am and 4.30am.
“There hasn’t been much change at the moment,” he said.
“We have put a few things in place for our investigations. We will not go into detail at this stage.
“No persons have been identified as interest that I am aware of.
“The human body is not designed for the force a car can apply to it. We are still investigating. It is still sad enough a driver hasn’t stopped but we don’t believe we are seeking a criminal.
“We are looking for answers and then we will make assessments if something has gone wrong. But first and foremost, we are looking for comments from people who can help.”
So far 19 people have lost their lives on Victorian roads in 2017.
Police told The Guardian on Tuesday investigations were continuing and any information would be provided once it came to light.
