Karl Jacka farewelled

IT’S only fitting that Balranald’s Karl Jacka will be farewelled at Lavington Oval today.

After all, a personality that big needs plenty of room.

That, and the fact that the Panthers’ home ground holds a special place in the family’s heart after Jacka and a young Cristy Paterson kicked off their romance there more than a decade ago.

“I was actually a bet,” Cristy Jacka recalled on Monday.

“Leigh McGlynn made a bet with Karl that he couldn’t kiss this new netballer and Karl said ‘I totally can’.

“It was love on the dancefloor by the end of the night … ‘Gooba’ (McGlynn) still hasn’t paid the $20, though.
