A woman and her dog jumped for their lives after her car began to submerge in an irrigation channel at Lake Boga on Friday.
Senior Constable Andrew Downes said the middle aged woman was traveling west on Lake Boga-Ultima Road just after 12.30pm when she lost control of her silver Holden commodore at a sharp corner.
“She has lost control, just missed a power pole before plunging into the channel,” Sen-Constable Downes said.
“Thankfully, the vehicle didn’t roll over and was partially submerged.
“She got herself and her dog out safely.”
She was taken to Swan Hill District Health for observations.
It took Country Fire Authority crews and a local towing company about half-an-hour to retrieve the vehicle as measures were deployed to stop any fuel leaking into the channel.
