Owner interrupts car intruder

AN unknown person is wanted by police after he allegedly ransacked a parked vehicle in Tooleybuc on Saturday. 

Police said the owner of a Cadell Street address was woken about 3.30am by his dog barking.

He went to inspect and noticed the interior light of his vehicle on, police said. 

He approached the vehicle and noticed that someone was inside and had ransacked the glove compartment and centre console. 

Nothing was taken as the offender was disturbed by the owner.

One hurt after ute rolls into power pole at Speewa

A 46-YEAR-OLD man suffered injuries after his utility rolled and smashed into a power pole at Speewa last Thursday.

It’s believed the Victorian man was heading east on Speewa Road, near Speewa Island, about 6pm when he rolled.

Police said it’s unclear what had caused the driver to leave the road. 

The man, who is yet to be interviewed by police, was taken to Swan Hill District Health with non-life threatening injuries.

Truck reportedly swerved

A TRUCK driver suffered serious injuries after he lost control and crashed into bushland near Euston last Wednesday.

The 33-year-old Victorian man was driving east on the Sturt Highway when a witness said the truck began to swerve from side to side about 5.30pm, police said. 

The driver failed to regain control of the truck as it left the road and came to a rest in bushland with the cabin roof ripped off. 

The driver was taken to Mildura Base Hospital in a stable condition. 

Police said investigations are ongoing. 

Wanted over car thefts

A MAN is wanted after he allegedly stole two vehicles in Cohuna and Gunbower last week.

Police said a man entered a Market Street, Cohuna, property last Thursday night while the occupants were home and stole the keys to a red Mazda hatchback.

The Mazda was later found crashed into a tree on the Gunbower-Pyramid Road.

The man was given a lift by a passer-by and was dropped off in Gunbower about 10pm.

Police believe the man stole a second vehicle, a red Mitsubishi Lancer sedan registered QIS885, from a house on Wilson Street which is still missing.

The man is reported to be Caucasian, aged in his mid-20s, 175cm tall and with a beard.

At the time he was given a lift into Gunbower he wore a brown jumper and blue jeans.
