NYAH District’s C Grade cricket side has etched itself into folklore after five fathers and their six sons donned the Demons’ jersey in one side at the weekend.
Bradley Bennett was the only player who was not related to another team member, as Cooper Andrews, dad Devon Andrews, Ethan Alexander, dad Brian Alexander, dad Wayne Grinham, Mitchell Grinham, Campbell Everitt, dad Andrew Everitt, Lachie Everitt, dad Paul Walsh and Ryan Walsh all donned the kit.
Speaking to The Guardian, Brian Alexander said it was a great occasion.
“It is a great family club and it was a really enjoyable day,” he said.
“This was a once in a lifetime thing. We also ended up winnning the game by one run at the end of the day.
“It was a different experience but something a lot of the fathers enjoyed.”
Swan Hill and District Cricket Association president Ross Cleeland said it was a fantastic occasion for the competition and shows the nature of the family spirit within clubs.
