OCTOBER is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month so it’s time to step up to support those suffering from the disease.
The Bendigo Bank in Swan Hill is taking part in a special fundraising appeal called “The Little Blue Towel” to raise money for the OTIS foundation.
The towels may not seem like much, but each packet sold will help those diagnosed with breast cancer spend time at a special retreat with their families at no cost, courtesy of the OTIS Foundation.
With one in eight women in Australia diagnosed with breast cancer sometime within their lifetime and eight women dying from it everyday, the fundraiser is an incredibly important initiative.
Swan Hill Branch Manager Heather Grant said the statistics of women diagnosed with the disease were staggering and the branch wanted to do all it could to help.
“Every one of us has known someone who has battled breast cancer, so we see this as another important step in helping to strengthen our local community,” she said.
