Sixteen candidates will contest next month’s Swan Hill Rural City Council election.
Nominations for candidates closed at noon yesterday and ballot positions were determined at a computerised draw yesterday afternoon.
Three of the incumbent councillors — Mayor Les McPhee (Lakes Ward), deputy mayor John Katis (Robinvale Ward) and Cr Gary Norton (Murray-Mallee Ward) — re-nominated for the council while Jim Crowe, Greg Cruickshank and Jessie Kiley decided against re-standing for the four-councillor Central Ward.
With the resignation of former mayor and Central Ward councillor Michael Adamson earlier this year, Swan Hill residents will be represented by four new faces for the next four years.
