Swan Hill councillor Jessie Kiley has confirmed she won’t re-stand in next month’s local government elections, while two others remain undecided.
Cr Kiley, an audiometrist, was first elected one of of four Central Ward councillors in 2012 but said she wanted to focus on “what I view as one of the most important roles in society, that of a mother”.
“It has been a privilege to serve the Swan Hill municipality for the past four years and I do hope that it is a role I can revisit in the future, hopefully with a new swathe of experiences to draw upon,” she said.
Cr Kiley received 14 per cent of the first preference votes (964 votes) at the 2012 poll.
Mayor Les McPhee, deputy mayor John Katis and councillor Gary Norton have all told The Guardian they planned to renominate in this year’s council elections, applications for which open on September 15.
