A LAKE Boga player has been suspended for two weeks after being found guilty of abusing an umpire.
The 17-year-old will be stamped out of the club’s colts finals fixtures after being reported in at the end of the Magpies’ seniors match at the weekend.
Central Murray Football Netball League chairperson John Brookshaw said it was a serious offence and the league would not stand for players mouthing off to umpires.
“We can’t have our umpires being abused, especially experienced umpires with more football experience than the player,” he told The Guardian.
“We need to send a clear message. There was no controversy around his decision, and the player lost the plot.
“Irrespective of the finals, the tribunal will continue to send a clear message on players, this will impact his season.”
The 50-metre penalty awarded allowed Swan Hill to kick a point and claim the victory.
