Lavey’s lament

FOR the first time in five Olympic Games Australia’s women’s basketball team will not come home with a medal, despite the high hopes on their shoulders.

Among the team, Swan Hill’s Tessa Lavey has been part of the Rio 2016 experience, soaking everything the tournament has to offer up.

Opening up to The Guardian, Lavey said it was a tough tournament but the side was still disappointed by the result.

“So I’m feeling pretty flat at the moment, it was tough to swallow the loss because we have a brilliant team,” she said.

“For me I have really enjoyed this tournament on and off the court, being able to create long lasting friendships with these ladies has been great.”

Despite the loss, Lavey’s mum Annette and partner Lincoln are still in Rio, and the trio are trying to enjoy the sights and sounds.

“I am trying to still enjoy what the games have to offer, but I’m also catching up with my Mum and Lincoln and trying to do some tourist things in Brazil with them,” Lavey said.
