THE Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery has received a boost to help it establish creative workshops for young artists and showcase the work they create in a bid to better engage local youth with art.
Gallery director Ian Tully said the funding would allow the gallery to run more projects specifically aimed at local youth aged 12-25 over the next 18 months.
Mr Tully said the projects would include workshops run by artists whose work was being featured in the gallery.
“For example, we’ll be running Deborah Kelly’s work in December/January so we’re trying to bring her down to Swan Hill from Sydney to host one of these workshops and help the young people create artworks for themselves,” he said.
