SWAN Hill Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club will once again host the Tennis Victoria Interregional Championships in 2017 after securing the event’s rights last week.
The tournament made its way to the heart of the Murray in 2016 and was a major success with Tennis Victoria speaking highly of the organisers and weather.
Now, in a massive economic boost for the region, Swan Hill will do it all again.
Club president Peter Morrison said he was excited to have the tournament back in town.
“We are really lucky to be awarded the event again, it isn’t often you will get it two years in a row,” he said.
“The following year we have Country Week Tennis coming so it has been great. There are some new competitions coming to the Interregional so they needed a big complex like ours for a smooth flowing tournament.
“We were confident with the way we ran it earlier this year, we knew we had done a good job. Tennis Victoria were keen to come here…we are very lucky to get our fair share.”
