‘It’s not my call’: Ley

WHILE the Federal Government is yet to be sworn in and uncertainty remains around her position on the Coalition front bench, Sussan Ley was chomping at the bit to get started on another term as Member for Farrer.

Improving services in the rural electorate shape as key starting points for the Liberal member.

“Continuing work to see a sensible balance to the Murray Darling Basin Plan, completing the local NBN rollout, covering our mobile blackspots, and promoting economic development within local communities are key issues in Farrer,” Ms Ley said.

“And (they are) top of my list as we get back to work.”

After claiming victory in her sixth election, Ms Ley said she would not rest on her laurels 15 years after first being elected.

“I feel extremely fortunate to have been re-elected as Member for Farrer, a position I have been honoured to take on since 2001,” Ms Ley said.

“Across the six elections I have contested, I have learned never to take my role as a local member for granted, and I never will.”

Farrer said she was “absolutely delighted” the Coalition would remain in Government and that Malcolm Turnbull would remain Prime Minister.
