THE fifth candidate contesting the seat of Mallee at the upcoming federal election wants to clamp down on foreign ownership of Australian land and introduce tighter rules for immigrants.
Tim Middleton runs an electricity cabling company in Mildura and will represent right-wing political party Rise Up Australia at the polls on July 2.
It’s Mr Middleton’s fourth time running for public office after a tilt at state parliament in 2014.
He also stood for federal parliament in the 2013 election as part of the Family First party where he received 0.9 per cent of the vote.
He told The Guardian if elected, he would push to overhaul Australia’s stance on the sale of land to foreign companies and floated the idea of a “one strike and you’re out” policy for immigrants to Australia convicted of violent crimes.
