A MISTREATED dog will receive a life-saving operation paid for in-part through the generosity of Swan Hill residents.
Four-month-old Murray River Retriever, Winston, was rescued from a Melbourne pet shop where he had been fed baby food and was kept him in a small glass enclosure.
The puppy was adopted by Echuca woman Teresa Peers after she saw a Facebook post about his plight.
The affectionate dog is due to undergo surgery to correct an acquired intrahepatic liver shunt in four months time.
Sixteen businesses in Swan Hill have so far pledged money towards the operation and a GoFundMe campaign set up by Swan Hill resident Robyn Sykes has raised $1365.
