CENTRAL Murray Football Netball League’s (CMFNL) on court future is being built with the CMFNL Netball Academy officially getting underway.
Twenty-three players have been selected from every club, with an eye on developing the under 15 CMFNL Interleague side to become a force.
In turn, it is hoped it will become easier for players to be identified by professional netball clubs from the Mallee.
CMFNL netball board member Sheridan Harrop said it was a great step in the right direction for the regions netball competitions.
“This is to develop basic skills in players … they aren’t necessarily the best, they all have either height, or good court awareness and the coaches want to build that,” she said.
“They will be taught skills from the basics to make them the best they can be … and our coaches and umpires will come in to develop as well.”
It is hoped the academy will give some of the brightest prospects elite coaching to push more to higher levels as they get older.
The CMFNL interleague netball side’s recently remained undefeated against North Central Netball League.
