Tiger cubs back at home

WOORINEN’s youth girls football side is back in town this Sunday, in a top of the table clash with Castlemaine.

The Tigers will host their opponents and will be hoping for better conditions than their last home match played in wet conditions.

The Woorinen side have only lost one match this season, a 36-point loss to their opponents.

Castlemaine are the only undefeated side in the competition, with the Tigers next best on five wins and one loss, clear in second position.

Woorinen Youth Girls football director Brenton Hogan said this match would come down to a battle of the midfield.

“The biggest thing is about winning in the middle, Castlemaine are strong in the centre,” he said.

“We have a pretty good forward line and our backline are holding their own, a lot can happen in this match.

“The biggest thing is that all the girls are improving as the year is going on, which has been a really, really big stand out.

“Castlemaine will put taggers on our players, they are trying to make sure they are all shut down.

But the best thing is we have a good spread of girls rather than relying on just one or two of them.”

The match will be played at the Woorinen Recreation Reserve from 12pm on Sunday.
