Sustainability on expo agenda

SWAN Hill Town Hall played host to more than 140 people from the farming industry when experts gathered for the Future Farming Expo.

It was an opportunity for farmers and farming industry to look at innovative practices to improve sustainability, according to North Central Catchment Management Authority (NCCMA) regional landcare facilitator Mandy Coulson.

She said it was encouraging to see like-minded people sharing knowledge and gaining information to make more effective farming decisions.

“It was a chance to see and hear about innovations and sustainability practices as well as a great networking opportunity to connect with regional, national and global thinking,” Ms Coulson said.

The expo featured a host of key speakers as well as workshop leaders who provided information on opportunities for local and domestic produce selling and improving sustainability.

Professor Snow Barlow spoke about climate and the implications on agriculture while Mona Chung provided information about strengthening the Australian and Chinese business partnership and ways to improve negotiations and communication.
