THE Swan Hill community has donated nearly 40kgs of children’s clothing and art materials to help support Indian kids after a call out on Facebook page Swan Hill Buy, Swap and Sell.
Local Cass Pearce, 24, decided to dedicate two months of her time overseas at Ramana’s Garden Children’s Home, an organisation in the north of India in Rishikesh, looking after and providing assistance to India’s most vulnerable.
As Ms Pearce travelled around India for six weeks she noticed the struggles Indian children were going through.
The experience moved her to volunteer in the Ramana’s Garden café and spend time playing with the children.
After making the Facebook post last week, Miss Pearce said she had to stop taking donations because she would be unable to ship all of the gifts to the organisation due to financial restraints.
