THE cricketing world has been rocked after both of the weekend’s under dogs went through to the decider in one of the most unpredictable seasons in Swan Hill and District Cricket Association’s history.
Fourth placed Nyah District became giant-killers when they slayed minor premiers St Mary’s Tyntynder with a 103-run win, while a patchy third placed RSL ended Swan Hill’s five match winning streak by just 10 runs.
Nyah District put in one of their best performances with the bat in hand to secure 255 runs, an above par score that many sides are unable to chase down, while RSL managed to knuckle down and beat their opponents across the park with a good team effort.
The first semi-final will be looked back on as one of the upsets of the season, with a determined Nyah District finding their feet in the middle, pushing St Mary’s Tyntynder to their absolute limits.
Nyah District Cricket Club captain Dean Harrop said his he was proud at the effort his side went to to knock out the best side in the competition.
