Hard yakka recognised

TOOLEYBUC Sporting Club has received a funding boost in recognition of its contribution to the local sporting community, after having maintained the Tooleybuc Recreation Reserve grounds at its own cost for three decades.

At its latest council meeting, Wakool Shire Council agreed to make a one-off $10,000 donation to the sporting club in recognition of the work it has put into maintaining Tooleybuc’s council-owned sporting grounds for the past 30 years.

Tooleybuc Sporting Club chief executive officer Hank Van Der Veen said the club used to be able to carry the costs of maintaining the recreation reserve, including its two football grounds and several tennis courts.

He said the club did this as its contribution to the Tooleybuc sporting community, which included sponsoring its football/netball and cricket clubs, as well as assisting its tennis club.
