SWAN HILL theatre lovers are in for a treat next week when Imagine That, Magical Mystery Tour, hits the stage on Thursday at the Town Hall.
Producer Jeanette Young was busy on Wednesday as the cast ran through a dress rehearsal.
The show, which is an original script written by the cast with the assistance of Ms Young, came about as an initiative to bridge a gap in activities in Swan Hill for adults with disability.
“I used to work in the disability sector in Melbourne with a particular focus on performing arts. When I moved to Piangil I wanted to create an opportunity for people with a passion for music, dance and drama,” she said.
“Money was an obstacle initially but we have had great support from the council, Hilltop Resort, Nyah Men’s Shed and The Lions Club.”
Eighteen participants have been busily rehearsing for the show since January and their hard work will culminate next Thursday in two shows.
“We have a matinee performance followed by an evening performance,” Ms Young said.
“We have already sold in excess of 150 tickets which is a great testament to the support we are receiving from the community.”
Along with the chance to perform in a professional production, the cast have also gained valuable experience in all aspects of theatre production and gained a host of personal benefits too according to Ms Young.
