Broad backs PM

MEMBER for Mallee Andrew Broad has pledged his support for embattled Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

As rumours of an imminent leadership spill rage in Canberra, Mr Broad has confirmed his continued support for the prime minister, saying he believes Mr Abbott will lead the Coalition to the next election.

The past week alone saw the Coalition deposed from power in Queensland, while Mr Abbott battled criticism following a unilateral decision to award a knighthood to Prince Philip.

However, Mr Abbott has strongly defended his track record as Prime Minister and says he has no intention of quitting the top job.

In an address to the National Press Club earlier this week, Mr Abbott said the LNP were “not going to take [the Australian people] back to chaos”, referring to the “Rudd-Gillard-Rudd years”.
