TRESCO residents have called for improvements to the intersection of the Murray Valley Highway and Benjeroop-Tresco Road following yet another collision.
Last Thursday, the driver of a prime mover allegedly failed to give way as he attempted to drive across the intersection to continue along the Benjeroop-Tresco Road.
He travelled into the path of a ute, injuring the elderly occupants.
In the past ten years, there have been two fatalities at the intersection.
Located on a flat stretch of road with clear vision from all angles, it is a deceptively easy intersection to navigate.
Tresco fruit grower Kelvin Free said over the past five years there had been many changes to the population and agricultural activity in the area.
A frequent user of the intersection, he said he could see how it may be easy for a collision to occur.
“I suppose it is a natural thing with an open area and where you can see for a long way [to be careless], but all it takes is for a car to be hidden by the pillar of the windscreen,” he said.
