Close contest in Christmas four-ball

THE ladies’ Christmas turkey four-ball winners last Saturday were Lynne Lawry (23), Val Hedwards (11), Michelle Holt (23) and Maralyn Morrison (22) with 126 points.

They won in a close contest from Judi Benbow (20), Tina King (26), Laurel Dewhurst (28) and Jenny Lynas (21) with 125 points.

Excellent scores were returned in the December Monthly Medal event at Murray Downs on Wednesday.

Christmas came early for B grader Shelley Wilkins whose score of 70 nett from her 19 handicap was one shot clear of three other competitors.

The result saw her collect the December Monthly Medal and the B grade voucher from Lois Coady (27), who scored 72.

Accuracy on the greens also enabled Wilkins to win the putting competition with 30 putts.

Shannon Bishop turned 16 on Tuesday and celebrated with a personal best score of 89-18-71 to win A grade from the club’s lowest marker Mary-Anne Davis (7), who scored 71 nett.

Jenny White, a 37 marker, also scored 71 nett to win C grade. Iris Boulton (34), 78, collected the runner-up prize.

Diane Martin, Chris Warburton and Gayle Rockstroh were rewarded for their shots to the par three holes and Judi Benbow, 72, and Maralyn Morrison, Chris Warburton and Lynne Bishop, all 73, led the ball rundown.
