Swans confidence grows

A REJUVENATED Swan Hill grew in confidence on a warm qualifying final day against Tooleybuc Manangatang at Kerang.

The combatants in Saturday’s senior game were evenly matched for much of the afternoon, with a see-sawing contest ensuring neither side was able to get on top early.

But a decisive third quarter helped the Swans record a 17.15 (117) to 12.17 (89) victory that sees them advance to the second semi-final against Kerang.

The Swans — the only team to beat Kerang this year — will prove a dangerous combination for the Blues, after turning around a midseason form slump that saw them drop four consecutive games by beating Nyah Nyah West and Woorinen to finish the home and away season.

Swan Hill’s win over the Saints on Saturday gives another shot of confidence to Xavier Moloney’s side, with momentum continuing to grow for the competition’s third-placed team.
