THE winners of the men’s 2014 Murray Downs Masters were former St Mary’s Primary School Swan Hill teachers Tim Vagg and Chris Mitchell.
Vagg is now a member of the Clifton Springs Golf Club on the Bellarine Peninsula, while his partner Mitchell is a member of the Lalbert Golf Club.
Vagg (5) and Mitchell (12) had scores of plus-five on Saturday and plus-10 on Sunday to finish with plus-15 overall to take out the coveted award.
The runner-up pairing from the Horsham Golf club was Howard Schier (6) and Ian Ryan (18) with an overall total of plus-13 (plus-two and plus-11).
In third position overall was another visiting pairing in Roy Hodges (14) from Gisborne and David Jackson (23) from Commonwealth Golf Club with scores of plus-10 and plus-two.
Steve Banks (11) and Tony Fleming (12) was the next best pair overall with a final total of plus-11.
In the daily events, Saturday was taken out by Horsham Golf Club pairing of Wayne Whelan (14) and Bill Stewart (18) with plus-nine, from the Spring Valley Golf Club pairing of Mal Sosbey and Greg Ebinger who finished the day with plus-seven.
