Strong competition from Swan Hill

SWAN Hill Little Athletics Centre was represented by 10 athletes at the State Multi Events held in Bendigo last weekend.

Approximately 380 competitors from across both metropolitan and country Victoria attended the annual competition.

Swan Hill was represented in a variety of age groups from under nines through to under 16s in both male and female categories.

The athletes faced extreme weather conditions of more than 40C, while competing in track events of 100m, 200m, 800m and 80m hurdles and field events of discus, shot put, javelin and long jump.

The competitors representing Swan Hill were Bridie Curran, Sam Bull, Sam Walker, Sara Berg, Emma Jones, Jackelyn Burge, Jacob Bull, Isaiah Bull, Mikayla Bull and Shannon Fox.

Swan Hill Little Aths Centre’s Brooke Walker said all competitors performed to their best.

“[They competed with] professionalism and drive with the best placed results going to Mikayla Bull who finished fourth overall in her age group of under 16,” she said.

“The competition was a good lead up the Western Region Individual Athletics event to be held in Warrnambool on February 22 and 23 which sees the individual winners progressing onto the State Championships at Albert Park in March.”

Any families interested in participating in Swan Hill Little Athletics are invited to attend Ken Harrison Reserve on Friday nights at 5pm.
