BLOODY IDIOTS: Police catch three separate drink drivers at Quambatook over weekend

THREE men were found to be drink driving at Quambatook at the weekend, with one
incident resulting in serious injuries for a passenger.

A 48-year-old
Quambatook man was charged with dangerous driving after two of his passengers
fell from the tray of a moving ute early on Saturday morning.

Police allege
he was driving his Mazda ute along the Quambatook-Dumosa Road when he lost
control of the vehicle about 5am.

Two men were unrestrained in the rear tray
and fell from the vehicle near the Murdoch Road intersection.

Of the two men
in the tray, a 25-year-old Tresco West man sustained serious head injuries,
while a Queensland man, 38, ran to Quambatook for assistance.

The Tresco West
man was air-lifted to Bendigo Hospital and was reportedly in a serious but
stable condition.

Police arrested the driver at his home. He underwent a
preliminary breath test which returned a positive result.

The Quambatook
driver was bailed and will face Kerang Magistrate’s Court on March 6.

Then on
Saturday night, police suspended the licence of a man in his 40s after he was
found driving with a BAC twice the legal alcohol limit.
