Last-bowl thrill at Moulamein

MOULAMEIN played at home against Swan Hill, in a thrilling match which went right down to the last bowl. 

The result went in favour of Swan Hill by two shots. 

Moulamein played very well to win two rinks but fell two shots short. 

Garry McGarth won his rink for Moulamein by two shots, Wayne Clark, Greg Scandolera, John Griffiths and Robert Weaver extended the lead, winning 25/21. 

The match-winners for Swan Hill were Wes Lewis, Grumpy Smith, Kel Kerwin and Vic Plumridge on 25/17. 

Murray Downs bounced back on the winners’ list, winning all rinks at Nyah, and by 38 shots over all. 

Graham Edwards won his rink 27/23, Buc Lehmann had an eight shot win on 23/15 and the big winners for Murray Downs were Spruker Cahoon, Graeme Cox, John Caldwell and John Alderuccio, winning 43/17. 

The best for Nyah were Frank Jacka, Matt O’Bree, Rod Lusty and Keith Burrage going down by only four shots.

Racecourse travelled to play Balranald and came away with a big victory, winning all three rinks and by 39 shots. 

Rob Hayes, Quenten Graham, Arthur Threadgold and Peter Scott had a big 32/16 win for Racecourse, Lindsay Ryan won his rink 31/19 and Tom Vernon won 28/17, to give Racecourse a comfortable win. 

The three juniors for Balranald — Adam Simpson, Nathan Jolliffe and Zac Jolliffe — are starting to improve rapidly. 

Balranald’s best were Zac Jolliffe, Peter Golding, Clive Burke and Frank Smith.

Swan Hill 6/74 def Moulamein 4/72; Murray Downs 10 / 93 def Nyah 0/55; Racecourse 10/91 def Balranald 0/52. Lake Boga had the bye.
