Symons sets up TUF

ULTIMA TUF captain Kyle Symons made an inspirational 113 to help set up a strong 220 for his side at Nyah on Saturday.

While Nyah District had their visitors on the ropes at 8/87, Symons managed to keep his composure to help his side to a competitive total in the first leg of the two-day match.

Nyah’s bowling attack was best served by Alistair Pretty and Ben Shadbolt who finished the day’s play with figures of 3/35 and 3/28 respectively.

At Ken Harrison Sporting Complex, St Mary’s Tyntynder managed a relatively modest total of 104 against RSL, with youngster Brent Daniels top-scoring with a solid 36.

RSL’s young up and comer Jack Cook was again more than serviceable with figures of 3/19 off four and a half overs.

In reply, RSL lost three quick wickets to be at 3/14 until Brenton Caldwell and Paul Munro steadied the ship with unbeaten scores of 31 and 45 respectively leaving RSL just 14 runs shy of St Mary’s first innings total.

Batting first at Woorinen, Lakers put on an impressive 214.

Young gun Matt Smith added 69 before being bowled by Woorinen captain Glenn Violi, while Alan Hatcher added a handy 62 before also being dismissed by Violi, who finished with four scalps.

In reply at stumps, Woorinen was 1/25 with Taylor Cameron falling for six bowled LBW by Hatcher.

As anticipated, Tooleybuc Manangatang was forced to forfeit to Swan Hill, leaving the latter with a fortnight off before its home clash with St Mary’s Tyntynder.
